  • The people over 80 years of age and Persons with Disability can now cast their votes through postal ballot by following due procedure or going to the polling station on polling day for voting. Note: Minister of Law and Justice: Ravi Shankar Prasad.
  • Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been awarded the prestigious Golden Dragon Award for his works in Hindi cinema at the Cardiff International Film Festival (CIFF) 2019 held in Wales, United Kingdom.
  • The Indian cricket team will play its first-ever Day-Night Test match against Bangladesh, at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Note: BCCI President: Sourav Ganguly; Headquarters: Mumbai.
  • The 6-time world champion Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom has been inducted into the 10-member sports ambassador group by the International Olympic Committee (IOC)on Boxing workforce to represent boxers ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
  • The 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI)will honour superstar Rajinikanth with a special Icon of Golden Jubilee Award and the Life Time Achievement Award for a Foreign Artiste will be conferred to French Actress Isabelle Huppert.
  • The International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists was observed on 2 November.
  • UNESCO has designated Mumbai as a member of UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) in the field of Film and Hyderabad in the field of Gastronomy. Previously, 3 Indian cities were recognized as members of UCCN, namely- Jaipur-Crafts and Folk Arts (2015), Varanasi-Creative city of Music (2015), Chennai-Creative city of Music (2017).
  • A documentary on Real Kashmir Football Club has bagged the prestigious British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) and Scotland Awards at a glittering ceremony in Glasgow, Scotland. The hour-long film won in the ‘Single Documentary’ category.
  • International acclaimed Sand Artist Sudarsan Pattnaik who belongs to Odisha has been selected for the prestigious Italian Golden Sand Art Award 2019.
  • The first-ever India-Uzbekistan joint military exercise Dustlik-2019 began at Chirchiq Training Area near Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
  • South Africa defeated England’s team in the final of the 9th edition of Rugby World Cup 2019 held at International Stadium, Yokohama, Japan.
  • According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Guyana is expected to be the fastest growing country in the world next year with GDP growth expectation at 86%. This growth expectation is after Exxon Mobil Corp.’s discovery of oil at Guyana.
  • A private sector lender, IndusInd Bank has appointed Suman Kathpalia,as its new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
  • S. based-Indian author Madhuri Vijay’s debut novel, “The Far Field” bagged this year’s JCB prize for Literature, the most expensive Indian award for writing. JCB prize is an annual Indian literary award instituted in 2018. It is awarded to a distinguished work of fiction by an Indian writer working in English or to a translated fiction by an Indian writer.
  • The World Tsunami Awareness Day was observed across the world on 5th November.
  • The Indian Railways has installed two ‘Health ATMs’ at the Charbagh railway station in  The kiosks, promoted by YOLO Health ATM, provide 16 health check-ups for Rs 50-100. The check-ups include body mass index, blood pressure, body fat, haemoglobin, metabolic age, muscle mass, weight, height, temperature, muscle mass, basal metabolic rating, visceral fat, oxygen saturation, pulse rate, blood glucose, and bone mass.
  • The International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict was observed on November 6.
  • The UAE’s Supreme Council of the Union has re-elected his Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as its President for a 4th five-year term, in accordance with the provisions of the UAE Constitution.
  • Rajasthan Patrika group chairman Gulab Kothari has been chosen for the prestigious Raja Ram Mohan Roy Award,presented by the Press Council of India, for his outstanding contribution towards journalism.
  • Indian Navy and Indonesian Navy conducted bilateral maritime exercise ‘Samudra Shakti.
  • The National Cancer Awareness Day was observed in India on November 7, to spread awareness on cancer, its symptoms and treatment. Note: World Cancer Day: February 4th.
  • The British Broadcasting Corporation announced a list of ‘100 Novels That Shaped Our World’.Renowned Indian authors like R K Narayan (Swami and Friends), Arundhati Roy (The God of small things), Salman Rushdie (The Moor’s Last Sigh), Vikram Seth (A Suitable Boy) and S. Naipaul (A House for Mr Biswas) are among 100 writers who have featured on a list of the most inspiring novels.
  • Kumar Mangalam Birla,chairman of the Aditya Birla Group,was conferred the ABLF Global Asian Award, for “powerful individual whose business footprint and commitment to excellence have engaged international interest and attention”. The Asia Business Leadership Forum (ABLF) is backed by the UAE government.
  • The Export-Import (Exim) Bank has provided a USD 30 million (about Rs 210 crore) line of credit to Ghana for a potable water project in the country.
  • The American financial service company Moody’s has downgraded India’s economic outlook to “Negative” from “Stable”. This downgrade was due to slow growth in the economy.
  • According to‘India Justice Report 2019’,Maharashtra is the top state in delivering justice to its citizens followed by Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Haryana in the first-ever ranking of states on their capacity to deliver justice to citizens. The list of seven small states (population less than one crore each) was topped by  Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are at the bottom.
  • India will host the 2023 Men’s Hockey World Cup from 13th to 29th of January.
  • The Tata Literature Live!Lifetime Achievement Award for 2019 was conferred on writer, translator and film critic Shanta Gokhale. Poet K Satchidanandan was named the Tata Literature Live! Poet Laureate for 2019.
  • As per the report titled“Furthering Digital Payments”released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks can no longer charge savings bank account holders for online transactions in the NEFT system, from January 2020.
  • India pacer Deepak Chahar recorded the best-ever figures in the Twenty20 Internationals when he returned figures 6 for 7 runs in 3.2 overs against Bangladesh at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in  Chahar also became the first Indian bowler to take a hat-trick in the shortest format of the game.
  • Chief Justice of India Justice Ranjan Gogoi released the Assamese version of the book ‘Courts of India: Past to Present’in Guwahati, Assam.
  • World Science Day for Peace and Development is celebrated every year on 10th The theme for 2019 is “Open science, leaving no one behind”.
  • The National Education Day is celebrated on 11th November on the birth anniversary of Independent India’s first Education Minister, freedom fighter, scholar and eminent educationist Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
